Our roots
Taking inspiration for it’s name from the iconic former Saskatchewan farmers collective, “The Wheatpool” is a focal point for all soccer fans and supporters groups to come together to support the SK Summer Soccer Series and help build momentum to bring a Canadian Premier League team to our Province.
The beautiful game was brought over to Saskatchewan with European immigrants in the late 19th Century, the first recorded game being played in Prince Albert on June 28, 1889.
The Saskatchewan Soccer Association was then established in 1905 in Grenfell and just over a century later professional soccer has a chance to come to Saskatchewan in a big way. As fans of the sport we have an integral part to play in the clubs future both on and off the pitch.
CPL soccer in Saskatchewan
The Wheatpool will be a specific section in the ground on match days for active supporting, singing, chanting, drumming and cheering on the team. The Wheatpool also organizes events to connect fans before and after games and organizes the March to the Match. The Wheatpool is built upon a friendly and inclusive environment where all are welcome to share and fuel their passion for the sport and be a part of building an active fan base for the Summer Series and future CPL club.
You can become a part of The Wheatpool and the revolution by signing up to our mailing list or joining our section at this year’s SK Summer Soccer Series.
